Well…

“With great power comes great responsibility”

-somebody in the Marvel universe sha.

And to be honest with you, we’ve been booked and busy making use of these great powers.

Yes! While our blog might’ve taken a brief hiatus, AIESEC never stopped working towards its mission: developing young leaders and creating global impact.

So you have nothing to fear, We’ve been out saving the world.

But now we’re back home…to you, and this time, we want you to come with us! We want you seated and ready on this journey with us.

LEADERSHIP SUMMIT:

It’s been more than just a glow-up. We held the leadership summit last November and it was nothing short of insightful and fun. From the interesting speakers to the lovely tags, sessions, and even a make-shift vision board to sign your name on your little mission of impact, it was simply a dream! Knowledge was gained, connections were made, and people walked out with a gleaming spark in their eyes. You just had to be there. But if you missed it, don’t worry—bigger things are coming!

RECRUITMENT:

Over the past few weeks, we acquired a new mission; to find the next generation of heroes and young leaders willing to change the world. The world will always need more helping hands, so, as usual, every year we recruit more heroes to join our team because we can’t do all the great things alone, sharing is caring after all. From different states and corners of the world, every hero is welcomed, as we season our team with their iconic and diverse powers. Willing to take the bold step out of the ride and join us out in the field? Well, we can’t wait to see you at the end of the year!

What’s going on now?:

GMW! And if you didn’t guess the abbreviation correctly, we listen and we don’t judge. It’s Global Money Week time and you do not want to miss all the exciting things we have in store for you! AIESEC is always here for you and it’s one thing you’ll never have to doubt.

It’s time to get our finances in shape and gain some education. In case you haven’t noticed, adulthood has slowly crept up on us from behind*, so there’s no greater time than now, to begin our financial literacy journey and make those mature financial decisions. Whether you’re a “money na water” human or a financial auditor in the making, this event is for every and anyone. So stay tuned for more insider scoop on how to keep our pockets in shape and our future in our hands.

Why Now?

Because the world isn’t waiting, and neither should you! Youth leadership is more important than ever, and AIESEC is here to equip YOU with the skills, experiences, and global perspective needed to create real impact.

And the best part is, we never run out of creative ways to do so!

Dear Amazing Earth Hero

In the wide web of human experiences, “firsts” have always held a special allure — a beautiful blend of excitement and trepidation, a certain kind of anticipation and uncertainty. There is an undeniable energy that comes with a “first,” a good sort of anxiety (if that exists).

In 1999, the UN made it a thing to raise awareness about the challenges and issues faced by young people worldwide. The youth, often hailed as the leaders of tomorrow, have a unique blend of passion, creativity, and resilience, and this is why International Youth Day exists.

For AIESEC in Nigeria, as a youth-centered organization, celebrating International Youth Day is a testament to our recognition of the youth’s pivotal role in building a better tomorrow. Like I’ve said before, who would we be if we did not celebrate the people who make us who we are? So, it comes as no surprise that we will be having an event to do just that. We only apologize that it’s taken this long, but you know what they say: better late than never.

The Superheroes Among Us

The Superheroes Among Us

When you hear the word “superhero”, what comes to mind? I bet it’s the picture of a man in a blue and red costume with chiselled abs, a cape and an S on the chest. It could even be a woman in an armour-like costume, wicked boots and a rope by her waist.

All superheroes have one thing in common. They arrive just in time to save the day. They are humanity’s last line of defence in the face of crisis, and they live a life of servitude in the knowledge that without them, we would all be in grave danger. They often say profound statements like, “with great power comes great responsibility”, which is why many of them go about their duties without demanding any form of payment — just gratitude and vibes.

Unfortunately, these kinds of superheroes only exist in the cinematic universes of DC and Marvel. This isn’t to say superheroes don’t exist, though. They do, and I had the privilege to speak to some of them over the past week.

These individuals may not have cool superpowers or flashy costumes, but they possess something greater. They possess the willingness to make an impact in the communities around them and positively impact the lives of others.

It wasn’t easy convincing them to allow me to reveal their secret identities, but in the end, I succeeded. Meet three real-life superheroes living among us.
